Venue Tour Series Feat. Mission Resort & Club

Updated: Nov 1

Simply Enchanted Events had a busy summer! From July to September, our lead planners and I embarked on a whirlwind of venue tours across Central Florida, uncovering hidden gems and awe-inspiring locations that are perfect for your big day. If you have been following us on social media, you got a sneak peek of some of these stunning venues, but we're taking it a step further. We are thrilled to announce a new blog series where we’ll dive deep into each venue, sharing insider details, standout features, and tips for bringing your dream wedding vision to life! Stay tuned—this is one series you will not want to miss!

Outdoor Ceremony
Mission Resort - Plaza de la Fontana

Our first venue spotlight shines on the stunning Mission Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL! Before founding Simply Enchanted Events, I was part of the Mission Resort & Club team as their Catering Manager, and I also chose this gorgeous venue for my own wedding in November 2021. Mission Resort & Club captures a timeless Old Florida charm, enhanced by beautiful Spanish-style architecture. With breathtaking views of the lush golf course and towering trees, it’s no wonder that this is one of Central Florida’s most picturesque wedding destinations!

At Mission Resort + Club, couples can choose from three versatile indoor and outdoor settings, each capturing the essence of Central Florida charm. One of the most enchanting options is the Plaza de la Fontana—and it's a personal favorite! This beautiful space, accommodating up to 250 guests, is the ideal location for outdoor ceremonies. Overlooking the historic El Campeón, a century-old golf course, Plaza de la Fontana barely needs any additional décor, as the natural beauty of the grounds does all the work. And the sunsets here? Truly magical. Take a look at some of our own wedding photos below to see just how unforgettable this venue can be!

Plaza de las Palmas offers the perfect setting for a cocktail hour or an intimate reception. With twinkling market lights and charming European-inspired architecture, it creates a truly magical ambiance. One of my favorite moments to create for Mission Resort + Club couples is a private dance under the string lights and open night sky—it’s a serene and unforgettable experience. As you can see in the photos below, this beautiful courtyard transforms into a dreamy backdrop, perfect for capturing memories that will last a lifetime.

Tip: Plaza Palmas also makes for great getting ready photos + sparkler exits!

Tip: if you are looking for a dog friendly wedding venue, then Mission Resort & Club is PERFECT. Our little corgi, Jasper, was our ring bearer and got to be part of a ton of photos. It really made our day so special getting to have him there!

For your resort side reception, you have La Hacienda and El Nuevo Ballroom. La Hacienda can fit a max of 150, when using all of the side rooms, but I would say keeping it under 130 is more ideal. The grand ballroom can see a max of 300, but I would say 250 is the sweet spot when considering a dance floor and all of your traditional wedding set ups. On my wedding day, I chose El Nuevo as our reception location as we decided on having a band.

For my own wedding, we chose the Grand Ballroom as our reception space, especially since we wanted room for a live band. Inspired by our Simply Enchanted Events’ signature style, we created a whimsical, enchanted atmosphere by bringing nature indoors with tree-like centerpieces, moss accents, and vibrant floral arrangements throughout the ballroom. This setting made our day unforgettable, capturing the magical, outdoor ambiance we’d dreamed of for our celebration.

Nestled on the resort’s golf side, you have Legends! Legends Courtyard feels so intimate, yet it can seat up to 150 guests for your Ceremony. This space always gives me Savannah/ Charleston vibes with the beautiful oak tree as your background & the tranquil fountain. Here are a few of my favotie ways, to decorate this space for ceremonies.

For cocktail hour, guests can gather on Legends Terrace to mingle beneath the market lights and enjoy a lush garden setting.

The evening continues in the Legends Ballroom, where panoramic views of the golf course provide a picturesque backdrop. This venue, which accommodates up to 140 guests, is a favorite among golf-loving grooms who want a memorable view. Below, you can see highlights from one of our favorite weddings held in this beautiful ballroom!

Tip: Legend Terrace is one of the best spots for a sparkler exit!

Finally, there’s Marina del Rey, a true gem among Central Florida venues. This enchanting space features a backdrop of Spanish moss-draped trees beside beautiful Lake Harris, creating a stunning and unique setting for any ceremony. The expansive field is ideal for both large ceremonies and grand outdoor receptions, and it can be tented with lighting to create a dazzling evening experience.

For more intimate receptions of 100 guests, the indoor Marina del Rey Pavilion offers a cozy yet open feel, with ceiling windows bringing in natural light and beautiful lake views. We’ve had the pleasure of hosting many unforgettable weddings here, one of our favorites being Anna and Brianna’s magical celebration back in October 2022. This venue is truly a rare find for couples seeking something extraordinary!

While staying at Mission Resort & Club, you’ll find plenty of ways to unwind and celebrate in the days leading up to your wedding! One of my personal favorites is Spa Marbella. For my wedding, my mom, sister, and I kicked off the wedding weekend with a relaxing spa day before the rehearsal dinner. Between luxurious treatments and sipping mimosas, it was the perfect start to the celebration! Meanwhile, my groom and his groomsmen were out enjoying a round of golf at Las Colinas.

From there, we gathered for an Italian-inspired dinner at El Gitano - one of the resort’s event spaces. We have so many incredible memories at this resort. Between my own wedding and our past couples’ experiences, it will always hold a special place in my heart!
