Oh to be "Thirty, Flirty and Thriving"! Disco balls, bright colorful floral and Razzle candies sparked the vision of the movie "13 Going On 30" into a styled shoot. When designing this shoot, I rewatched the movie and took notes of what popped out to me most. The beginning of the movie centers around the 80s, so I had to incorporate bright pops of colors and disco balls in the decor. In honor of my own 30th birthday, I took advantage of dressing up as the one and only "Jenna Rink" for a day and got to rock that iconic outfit.
Our inspired shoot took place on "Parrot Lawn" at Margaritaville Resort in Orlando, FL. This tropical themed resort opened its doors back in 2019 and quickly took over as a hotspot for destination wedding couples to get married. Our team has been part of so many gorgeous weddings on this very lawn, so I thought it would be the perfect spot to showcase this fun theme.
Our ceremony "ghost arch" was designed by the very talented Andie, Owner of The Flower Studio. We wanted to do a mix of the very trendy Boho look by mixing in touches of Pampas Grass along with a little bit of 80s with the disco balls and the vibrant colors shown throughout the shoot. My favorite part of this arch is where Andie sprayed a few of the leaves in bright blue. Our models represented the characters "Jenna & Matt" getting married at the end of the movie. Andie recreated the bright pink, hand tied bouquet from the movie and it was perfect!
My goal for the overall look at reception was to be as vibrant as possible with a glam element. We rented the silver, sparkly chargers and oval metallic chairs from Gala Rentals. The floral arrangements mixed with mini disco balls popped perfectly against the teal blue linen and bright pink napkins. If this doesn't scream 80s, then I don't know what does!
The cake table was definitely at the top of my favorites from this shoot! I really wanted to recreate the doll house that Matt built for Jenna in the movie. Vanessa from "Sweet Miss V's" nailed this look! To enhance the look we threw in Jenna and Matt's favorite childhood candy "Razzle's". We all ended up trying a piece and it really was fruit candy that turned into gum!
The mobile bar was our final touch and such a fun setup for an outdoor reception. The Tipsy Traveler bar served our bride and groom "Razzle Raspberry" cocktails to sip on inside the bar.
